Phyllis M. Jewart, 98, of Blairsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Beacon Ridge in Indiana, PA.
The daughter of James R. and Ruth (Henry) Males, Phyllis was born on October 25, 1919, near Sligo, PA.
Phyllis was a homemaker and worked as a beautician prior to her marriage to Joseph G. Jewart on August 24, 1947. She was a member of the Blairsville United Methodist Church where she taught Bible School, played the piano for Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She cooked for Meals on Wheels and for funeral dinners at her church. Phyllis was an excellent seamstress and loved spending time with her family.
Phyllis is survived by four daughters, Linda (Carl) Steel, Janice Baccamazzi, Patricia (Richard) Korywchak, all of Indiana, and Diane (Kevin) Grejtak, of Blairsville; Grandsons, Daniel, Nicholas, Benjamin and Vincent (Megan) DeGruttola and Joseph Baccamazzi; Great Grandchildren, Dominic, Alyssa, Grace, Vincent, Jr., and Madison DeGruttola. She is also survived by brothers Julian (Lelia) Males and C. Alvin (Delores) Males, sister-in-law Ruth Males, brother-in-law, Raymond Wolfe, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, on January 24, 2017, brothers James R. Males and C. Calvin and wife Nancy Males, sisters Betty and husband Wayne Magness, and Barbara Wolfe, and son-in-law Martin Baccamazzi.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Thursday, at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blairsville United Methodist Church.
