Amy Lynn McConnell, age 44, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 9 at her residence in Rio Grande, New Jersey.
The daughter of the late William Jr. and Cheryl (Snyder) McConnell, she was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on August 18, 1979 and grew up in Black Lick, Pennsylvania. After her mother Cheryl passed away when she was young, Amy was raised by her maternal grandparents Ronald and Ruth Snyder. In addition to attending Burrell Elementary School, she grew up playing with her brother Jason and many neighborhood friends on Marshall Heights Road. Despite enduring the early childhood challenge of losing her mother, she enjoyed a wonderful childhood surrounded by a loving family. Shortly after graduating from Blairsville Senior High School with the Class of 1997, Amy moved to Raleigh, North Carolina and lived in that area most of her adult life. She attended Merideth College, a private women’s liberal arts college in Raleigh and worked a variety of jobs over the years. From an early age, Amy loved listening to a wide range of music. She enjoyed listening to everything from old country and classic rock to 80’s pop music, heavy metal, and hip hop. She especially liked sad songs that told the truth about the difficulties of life.
Amy is survived by her grandmother Ruth Snyder, stepmother Judy McConnell, brothers Jason and Billy McConnell, many uncles and aunts, a niece and several nephews. Besides her parents, Amy was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Ronald Snyder, her paternal grandparents
William Sr. and Jean McConnell, her uncles Greg and Mark Snyder, and cousin, Jeremy Snyder.
