November 8, 1950 — July 24, 2024

Barry David Kestenbaum, 73, of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Embassy at Hillsdale.

The son of the late Leonard and Celia (Ruben) Kestenbaum, Barry was born Nov. 8, 1950, in Bronx, NY.

Barry was a member of the Beth Shalom Synagogue in Johnstown. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Barry was a member of the Creekside VFD and a Cub Scout Leader, also in Creekside. Barry volunteered with the Open Door, homeless shelter in Black Lick and Alice Paul House, where he was a victim advocate. His favorite hobby was fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judith (Aul) Kestenbaum, of Indiana; a son, Samuel Kestenbaum and wife Shelly, of Indiana; three siblings: Russ Kestenbaum and wife Marci, of Ore.; Shari Wood and husband Art, of Calif.; and Kim Meltzer and husband Bill, of Ore; three grandchildren: Collin, Courtney and husband Darren, Tiffany and husband Adam; and two great-grandchildren: Elena and Cole.

There is no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville. Military honors will be provided by the Blairsville Military Honor Group assisting the United States Army. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
