Betty Lou Laney

Betty Lou (Palmer) Pavlik Laney, 85, of Derry, PA passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA, surrounded by family.

The daughter of Richard and Mary (Hunter) Palmer, she was born August 9, 1940, in Latrobe, PA.

Betty was a member of the Tree of Life Assembly of God Church in Latrobe, PA.

She was a homemaker who loved family gatherings during the holidays and shopping. Betty enjoyed watching Arlene Williams cooking on the Cornerstone Network, and she also liked The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal. She is remembered as always liking to hum.

She is survived by her children, Peter Pavlik of Blairsville, Roger Pavlik (Tawnette) of Black Lick, Brenda Butler of Derry, and Raymond E. Laney Jr. (Adriane) of Derry; stepdaughter, Martha Laney of Wenatchee, WA; sister, Dolores Coish (Harry) of Derry; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; special friend, Cil Hughes of Derry; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Peter Pavlik; second husband, Raymond Laney Sr.; son, Larry Palmer; stepson Wayne Laney; brothers, Ronald Palmer, Joseph Palmer, and Richard Palmer; and sisters, Joan Palmer and Nancy Wissinger.

A private viewing and funeral service will be held at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, with Pastor George Prior officiating.

A private interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
