Charles "Chuck" A. Lucas, III

Charles “Chuck” Alex Lucas, III, 80, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Grand Strand Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The son of Charles Alex Lucas, II and Irene F. (Fedor) Lucas, he was born on May 11, 1944, in McIntyre.

Chuck was a graduate of Elders Ridge High School, Class of 1962, Salem University, Class of 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, and furthered his education, receiving a Master of Education at IUP.

He was a veteran of the US Army and taught Social Studies for the Greater Latrobe School District for 31 years until his retirement in 1999.

Chuck was a member of Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, Kent, American Legion #493, Homer City, BPOE #406, Blairsville, C & Y Sportsmen’s Club, Shelocta, and member and past President of FOE #1488, Blairsville.

He loved cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing, woodworking, music and dancing but most of all he cherished spending time with his family.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Annette (Surra) Lucas, whom he married on May 25, 1968; two sons, Brian Charles Lucas (Jamie) of New Market, MD, and James Robert Lucas (Michele) of Oakdale; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Braydon, Jamie, and Adam (Nadia); four great grandchildren, Viviana, Julietta, Desmond, and Rosalia; his sister, Betty Ann Lucas of Homer City; two brothers, Michael J. Lucas (Sharon) of McIntyre, and Richard L. Lucas (Cindy) of Appalachia, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Robert J. Lucas on July 18, 2023.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1 PM in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville with Pastor John Manon officiating.

Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Shelocta, PA.

Military services will be conducted at the cemetery by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard.
