Charles R. McAdoo Jr.

Charles R. McAdoo, Jr., age 101, passed away March 30, 2026 at Madison Pointe Care Center in New Port Richey, Florida.

He was born on December 09, 1924 in Indiana, PA, son of the late Charles and Ethel (Luckhart) McAdoo. Charles served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Nassau CVE 16. After WW II he returned to Indiana, PA and built McAdoo Cycle Shop alongside his father, Charles, Sr. In 1953 he joined the Indiana Borough Police Department, serving for 38 years, the last 14 years as Chief of Police, until he retired in 1991 to care for his wife Penny.

Mr. McAdoo was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, VFW and Shriners. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying his airplane, riding and racing motorcycles, traveling to NASCAR races and spending weekends at the river, but most of all he enjoyed being Poppy to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons, Charles R. McAdoo III (Sharon), New Port Richey, FL; Larry McAdoo (Margo), Indiana, PA; and one daughter Marcia McAdoo (Ken), St. Petersburg, FL; 5 grandchildren; Scott, Brandi, Melissa, Tiffany and Daniel; 10 great grandchildren; Bryan, Connor, Owen, Zack, Brody, Addison, Christian, Carmen, Mya, Maverick and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis (Penny) McAdoo, sister Jean Blair and granddaughter Kimberly McKendrick.

A public memorial service will be held on Saturday June 20, 2026 beginning at 2:00 PM at Oakland Cemetery, 845 Rose St, Indiana, PA 15701 with Pastor Bill Blair officiating. The Patriot Guard Riders will honor his Military service to his country. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th St, Indiana, have been entrusted with the arrangements. 

Memorial donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
