Cynthia Kay Bence

Cynthia Kay Bence, 81, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at her home.

A daughter of the late Charles H. and Dorothy (Lydic) Bence, she was born July 27, 1941, in Indiana.

Cindy was a graduate of Penn Joint High School in Harrison City and the Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She worked as a Registered Nurse at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh and Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla. Cindy retired as a nursing instructor from Sarasota County Technical Institute in Sarasota, Fla.

She devoted her life to our family, friends and her nursing career. She was a dog fancier and spent the last years with her faithful dog Bella by her side. Her generosity to others will always be remembered and appreciated.

She is survived by a sister, Candace B. Kaufman and husband Bill, of Lakeland, Fla.; nephews, Bradd Kaufman and wife Erika and their daughters Avery and Brynn; Todd Kaufman and wife Deedee, their daughter Leighanna Holt and husband Darien and their son, Gabriel Holt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Bence.

Friends and family will be received from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, with Pastor Jack Lucas officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
