Donald Walter Palmer, Sr.

Donald Walter Palmer, Sr., 82, of Blairsville, PA, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

The son of Elmer and Lulu E. (Clawson) Palmer, he was born on August 5, 1943, in Blairsville, PA.

Donald was an active volunteer with the Black Lick Fire Department from 1979 to 1986. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are two children, Donald W. Palmer Jr. (Sandy) of Ford City and Janet L. Smith (Michael) of Blairsville; grandchildren, Bryan, Christopher, Matthew, and Jessica; 11 great grandchildren; and brother, Theodore Palmer (Mary Inez) of Derry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline “Pean” (Hill) Palmer on May 27, 2022; his parents; son, Robert Wayne Palmer in 1979; brothers Charles and Elmer; and sister, Jane Bolen.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4 to 6 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 6 PM with Pastor Doug Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
