Edward H. Myers, Sr.

Edward Harry Myers, Sr., 86, of Derry, PA (Derry Twp.), died on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA.

The son of Edward W. and Emma J. (Hitchman) Myers, he was born on August 16, 1939, in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, PA.

Edward graduated from Derry High School, Class of 1957, and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Standard Steel in Latrobe, PA for 38 years before retiring in 2004.

Edward was a member of the Logos Christian Fellowship in Loyalhanna and in his spare time, he loved camping with his family.

He married Iva Jean Lawson on August 28, 1965, and together they shared 56 years of happiness before her passing on March 11, 2022.

Surviving are his two children, Wendy Payne (Greg) of Blairsville and Edward H. Myers, Jr. (Kimberly) of Hillside; grandchildren, Michael Payne (Grace), Casey Payne, and Steven Myers (Stephanie); great grandchild, Eli Payne; brothers, William Myers of Derry, Charles Myers (Kathy) of Derry, Harrold Myers (JoAnn) of Pleasant Unity, and Mark Myers (Jan) of Loyalhanna; sisters, Betty Jennings of Segar, Sonja McAdams of Segar, and Rebecca Kleist (Jim) of Greensburg; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Iva Jean (Lawson) Myers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 1 PM, with Pastor James Davis officiating.

A military service will be held at the funeral home with the Blairsville Military Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
