Eric Matthew Baughman, 40, of Blairsville, PA, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served his country with honor, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.

Born on October 10, 1985, in Wheeling, WV, Eric was the son of Joseph and Cynthia A. Baughman.

A graduate of Keystone High School, Class of 2004, Eric continued his commitment to service through his work in forensic security at Torrance State Hospital.

Eric proudly answered the call to serve as a United States Marine, dedicating more than four years to his country with courage, honor, and unwavering commitment. He completed two tours in Afghanistan as a Marine, then continued his military career with 14 years of service in the Army National Guard, including a tour in Jordan. His service was a deeply meaningful part of who he was, reflecting his strength, loyalty, and love of country. Yet of all he achieved, nothing meant more to Eric than being Dexter’s father. His son was his greatest joy, his proudest accomplishment, and the legacy he treasured most.

Following his service, Eric remained committed to the fellowship and support of fellow veterans as a member of VFW Post #5821 and American Legion #0407, both in Blairsville, and the Department of Pennsylvania Marine Corps League, Rolling Rock Detachment #738, Latrobe.

Eric is survived by his parents, Joseph & Cynthia Baughman of Marble; his wife, Jennifer L. (Sulkosky) Baughman, the love of his life, whom he married on June 6, 2022; his son, Dexter Baughman of Blairsville; his siblings, Cody Friend (Morgan) of Punxsutawney, Joseph Baughman (Amanda) of Natrona Heights, and Heidi Zacherl (Gene) of Oil City; his maternal grandfather, Jodia Scales of Leeper; three nephews, Landon, Chandler, and Acetyn; three nieces, Maddison, Olivia, and Norma; and his beloved fur babies, Payton, Abby, Gunner, Keno, and Stormy.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Eva Scales, and his paternal grandparents, Francis and Mary Baughman.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 5 to 8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service honoring Eric’s life, legacy, and faithful service to his country will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with Scott Fay officiating.

Interment will follow in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.

As a final tribute to his honorable service, military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard.
