Ernest Raymond Howard, 84, of Indiana, PA, formerly of Black Lick Twp., passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
The son of William “Frank” and Matilda Elizabeth (Cunningham) Howard, he was born August 3, 1934 in Black Lick Twp., PA.
Mr. Howard served in the United States Marine Corps (1956-1957) and worked as a truck driver in the coal industry.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and was a lifetime member of National Rifle Association and Pennsylvania Gun Collectors Association.
He was an avid hunter.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Carol Ann (Palmer) Howard whom he married January 29, 1966; a son, Tim (Karen Loperfito) of Blairsville; two daughters, Robin (Mark) Lukcik of Blairsville and Tiffany (Nick) Stewart of Homer City; three grandchildren, Justin (Halee) Lukcik, Amber Lukcik and Sierra Stewart, step-granddaughter, Nicole Lydic, one brother, two sisters, “Pappy’s Buddy” Toby and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
The wishes of the family are to have a private service with Pastor Dan Cunkelman officiating at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA.
Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
Military services will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
