Frederick G. Overfield, Jr.

Frederick George Overfield, Jr., 72, Clarksburg, PA, (Conemaugh Twp.) passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in AHN Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

The son of Frederick G. Overfield, Sr. and Audrey J. (Hopkins) Overfield, he was born March 26, 1952, in McKeesport, PA.

Fred was a graduate of Norwin High School and a veteran of the US Navy. He worked as a construction supervisor until his retirement.

He was a member of Union Carpenter Local #432, Millwrights Local Union #2235, both of Pittsburgh, and Saltsburg American Legion Post #57.

Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, shooting guns and going to the shooting range.

Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Helen (Beaver) Overfield, whom he married on December 19, 1981; three children, John Morris of Canada, Heather Santos of Downey, CA, and Frederick J. Overfield (Adrienne) of Irwin; five grandchildren, Sarah, Aleena, Hana, Angelina, and Audrey; two sisters, Diane Wills of Greensburg, and Judy Aker (Bob) of Meyersdale; and a brother, James Overfield (Kathy) of North Huntingdon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a stepbrother, Howard Decker.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 2 PM until the funeral service at 4 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA with Pastor Clark Lauffer officiating.

Military services will be conducted at the funeral home by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard.
