George L. Humphrey, Jr.

George “Pete” Leslie Humphrey, Jr., 81, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his home.

The son of George L. Humphrey, Sr. and Lucinda (Nicholson) Humphrey, he was born on January 19, 1944, in Derry Twp., PA.

Pete graduated from Derry High School, Class of 1962 and was a veteran of the US Navy assigned to the U.S.S. Constellation for three years.

For over 50 years, Pete was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville.

He retired from Westinghouse in the late 90’s to enjoy his family, especially his grandsons.

Pete enjoyed putting computer puzzles together, watching sports, reading and studying the Bible.

Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Rose E. (McIntire) Humphrey, whom he married on March 4, 1966; two daughters, Dolores A. Glantz (Gary) of Accokeek, MD, and Deborah J. Reed (Jeff) of Latrobe; two beloved grandchildren, Tyler and Matthew Glantz, both of Accokeek, MD; and a sister, Anna H. Sabbers of Scottdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his older sister, Dolores Stile on June 16, 2023.

Per Pete’s wishes, there will be no visitation.

A graveside service with military honors conducted by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 10 AM at the Blairsville Cemetery.

Inurnment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.
