Gregory Scott Heim, 67, originally of Hollidaysburg, died on Tuesday, July 22, at his home in Blairsville (Derry Twp.), Pennsylvania.
He was born on July 23, 1957, the son of David R. and Pauline M. Heim. He is survived by his mother; two brothers, Jeffrey L. Heim (Suzie) of Manassas, Virginia, and David T. Heim (Angela) of Duncansville; eight nieces and nephews, Elliott, Adriana, Harrison (Hannah), Jenna, Everett, D.J., Olivia, and Alissa; and one great-nephew, Wesley. He was preceded in death by his father, who passed away in 2018, and his beloved wife, Terri Lynn Heim, who passed away in 2020.
Greg graduated from Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in 1975. He was a first-team selection for the UPI Pennsylvania State football team in 1974 as a defensive end. He worked as a cook at several different restaurants and as a laborer over the years.
Greg was always the first one to lend a hand when anyone needed assistance in his community. He was affectionately called “Uncle Dip” by his nieces and nephews, and he never failed to make them laugh at holiday gatherings.
A private service to celebrate Greg’s life is being planned for a future date.
Arrangements are by Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville.
Inurnment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, New Florence.
