Harold “Tex” R. Coleman, 92, of Brush Valley Twp., passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at the home he shared with Jane, his wife of 67 years.
Harold was born in Elders Ridge to Clarence McBride and Clara Belle (Hine) Coleman.
Harold joined the Americal Oil Company (later Amoco) in 1964 and in 1974 he and Jane formed Accents Fuels, Inc. Upon retiring from Accent in 1991, Harold and Jane formed the Lock-A-Way Storage business in Brush Valley. He was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and a longstanding member of the Jaffa Shrine and the Masonic Lodge. Harold and Jane enjoyed traveling around the continental Unites States, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada, as well as the United Kingdom and Germany. He and Jane loved their Welsh Corgi, Maggie.
Harold is survived and loved by his five children, Margaret “Peggy” Altemus and husband Martin; Mark Coleman and special friend Jackie Rollo; Jeff Coleman and wife Deborah; Gregory Coleman and wife Kim; Melissa Coleman Sheperd and husband Thomas; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Coleman; and four siblings.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026 at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, with Pastor Jim Sunseri officiating. Interment will be in Brush Valley Cemetery.
The family would like to acknowledge all those who have provided their special care and support to Harold and Jane in recent years.
In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Harold’s strong faith, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to your favorite house of worship.
