Jacob “Jack” or “Jake” William Salva, 86, of Homer City, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at St. Andrew’s Village.
The son of the late Paul W. and Anita B. (Snyder) Salva, he was born Aug. 13, 1938, in Coal Run.
Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Edison Mission Energy, where he was an electrician at the Homer City Power Plant. Jack was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent. He was a founding member of the C&Y Sportsmen’s Club in Shelocta. Jack was also a member of the Saltsburg American Legion Post 57 and the Indiana B.P.O.E. 931. He loved gardening and selling and buying raffle tickets. Jack also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his beagles. In his younger days, Jack was a pitcher on the Coal Run baseball team.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret J. (Toth) Salva. They were married on July 15, 1967 and recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his daughter, Shelley Salva-Nibert and husband Mark, of Homer City; a grandson, Jacob Nibert, a Penn State graduate who grandpa was extremely proud of.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, William Salva.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana. A private family graveside service will be held at Iselin Union Cemetery, with Fr. Joseph Pham officiating.
The family sends a special thank you to the staff at Anew Home Health Agency, Inc. and St. Andrew’s Village (Crossland Unit) for the care they gave Jack.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to Indiana County Humane Society, 191 Airport Road, Indiana, PA 15701.
