Joe Rellick

Joe Rellick, 96, of Blairsville, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in William Penn Care Center, Jeannette, PA.

The son of John and Mary (Zawiski) Rellick, he was born on March 16, 1928, in Homer City, PA.

Joe was of the Catholic faith.  He graduated from Homer City High School, Class of 1946 and was a veteran of the US Army.  Before moving to Blairsville, he lived in Saltsburg and retired from the US Army Corp of Engineers as the Area Chief of the Lower Allegheny Area with 35 years of service, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of the Blairsville VFW Post #5821.

Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling across the United States, and driving to pick up cars while working for Watson Chevrolet.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph A. Rellick (Donna) of Irwin, and Ronald E. Rellick (Georgiann) of Murrysville; three grandchildren, Jason Rellick (Tamara), Ryan Rellick (Tara), and Emily Reger (Cory); three great grandchildren, Thomas, Danica, and Caroline Rellick; two brothers, George Rellick of Aultman, and Donald Rellick (Linda) of New Alexandria; many special nieces and nephews; his former second wife, Barb Balest; Barb’s children, Heather (Ryan), Mike (Tina), and Crystal; and Barb’s four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Dolores “Dolly” Rellick, a brother, John Rellick, and a sister, Ann Kowchuck.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2nd from 1PM until the time of the funeral at 4 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc. 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, Pastor Jack Lucas officiating.

Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard following the funeral service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, PA.

Joe has lived at the William Penn Care Center for the last four years.  The family would like to thank the staff at William Penn Senior Suites, William Penn Rehabilitation Facility, and Bridges Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
