John David Gibson

John David Gibson, 65, of Blairsville, PA (Black Lick Twp.), died on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.

The son of Viola (Jane Elliott) Gibson Buterbaugh and John Harvey Gibson, he was born on January 24, 1961 in Indiana, Pa. John lived in Indiana County on his family’s farm his entire life.

John graduated from Blairsville High School in 1978.

Survived by brothers, Bill Gibson (Holly) and Joe Gibson (Stephanie) both of Blairsville, nieces, Rebekah Gray (Matt) of Cockeysville, MD and Katie Henry (Logan), and his great-nephew, Beau “Curly” Henry of Blairsville. John was a very proud uncle and great-uncle. He loved hearing Curly stories.

The family would like to thank Todd Shamberger and his family, Jambo, Ronald Busija, and Bob Streams for being such good friends to John over the years.

John was a gentle soul who loved to hunt deer on the farm and go to the family camp fishing with his brother, Bill. He loved to spend time with his friends Todd and Jambo at their Sunday Peanut Parties. He also enjoyed going to Texas Roadhouse with his friend Ronald.

He was predeceased by his parents and his step-father, Robert Buterbaugh.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 2 to 5 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA.

A private interment will be in McDowell Cemetery, Clymer, PA.
