Joshua Robert Staron, 35, of Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his home.
Born in Indiana on August 14, 1989, he was the son of Mark J. Staron and wife Kym, and Leisa F. (Montgomery) Bruner. Josh was a graduate of Indiana Area High School and went on to work as a Civil Engineering Project Manager. He was known for his outgoing personality, his sharp sense of humor, and the way he lit up a room the moment he walked in.
Josh carried a big heart and a quiet intensity that made him unforgettable to anyone who really knew him. He had a love for meaningful conversation and a passion for travel, finding joy in exploring new places, meeting new people, and collecting experiences. He made people laugh easily and had a way of making others feel truly seen. While he carried more than he often shared, he gave so much of himself to those around him — through his kindness, his presence, and the stories we’ll never forget.
He is survived by his parents, Mark J. Staron and wife Kym, of Indiana, Leisa F. Bruner, of Shelocta; his brother, Justin J. Staron and wife Stephanie, of Rural Valley; his two nephews and niece; his stepsister, Casidhe Shetter, of Colorado; his friend, Joshua Marshall, of Indiana; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends who meant the world to him.
Josh was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert Carlton “Carl” Montgomery and Stella Montgomery; his paternal grandparents, Max J. Staron and Caroline Clesi Staron; and his beloved dog, Winnie.
Josh was the kind of person who always put others first. If you needed help, he was there without hesitation. He was selfless, loyal, and had a gift for making people feel seen and valued. He could make you laugh when you least expected it, often with a wildly inappropriate joke that only he could deliver. He was bold, stubborn, and full of heart — and somehow, all of that made him feel like home. If you knew Josh, you have a story worth telling. And that’s how we’ll hold on to him: through the memories, the laughter, and the love he gave so freely.
Friends and family will be received from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana. Pastor Richard Motzing will officiate.
