June Rose (Shirley) Hogue, 100, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana, PA.
The daughter of Porter Dewey Shirley and Corabel Irma (Neil) Shirley Moore, she was born July 6, 1924, in Derry, PA.
June became a member of the Blairsville Free Methodist Church in 1949 where she taught Sunday School and Christian Youth Crusaders, held an office in the Women’s Missionary Society, and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Blairsville Monday Music Club.
In 1980, she retired from Dean’s Diner and Torrance State Hospital.
Surviving are four sons, Alfred T. Hogue, Jr. (Darlene) of Blairsville, Brady Hogue (Cynthia) of Blairsville, Dalton “Dale” Hogue (Sandy) of Blairsville, and Marvin Hogue (Donna) of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; her brother, Paul (Herky) Moore; her sister, Kathleen (Moore) Dutko; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Alfred T. Hogue, Sr. whom she married on January 16, 1942, who passed away in 1991, an infant child, her daughter, Karen June (Hogue) Muir, her grandson, Louis Radford Hogue, her son-in-law, William James Muir, three brothers, Percy Moore, Carl H. Moore, and Allen Moore, four sisters-in-law, Caroline Moore, Susan M. Moore, Mary T. Moore, and Mildred Moore, her sister, Betty (Moore) Pershing, and two brothers-in-law, William Pershing and Eugene Dutko.
Per June’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
Funeral services are private.
Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville is entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations to be made to the Homer City Church of the Nazarene, 3513 Route 119 Hwy S., Homer City, PA 15748.
