Marie Elizabeth (Sabo) Kenney, 90, of Blairsville, PA (Derry Twp.), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.

Born on November 10, 1935, in Brenizer, PA, Marie was the cherished daughter of Anthony J. and Jean E. (Chiesa) Sabo.

Marie lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She was a devoted member of SS Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Blairsville, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Theresa #562, and the Blairsville Elks Ladies Auxiliary, where she enjoyed fellowship and lasting friendships.

A graduate of Derry Twp. High School, Class of 1953, Marie carried throughout her life the values of hard work, kindness, and quiet strength.

She dedicated 28 years to the Derry School District as fiscal manager and board secretary, serving with diligence, grace, and a deep sense of responsibility until her retirement.

Those who knew Marie will remember her gentle heart, steady devotion to her loved ones, and the warmth she brought to family gatherings and everyday moments alike. Her legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

Marie is survived by her two sons, Dr. W. Larry Kenney (Patricia) of State College, and David A. Kenney (Shelly) of Brookfield, WI; five grandchildren, Casey, Matt, Colleen, Alex, and Logan; two great-grandchildren, Adrian and Arya; a brother, John A. Sabo (Claudia) of Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews who will hold her memory close.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 67 years, William L. Kenney, on April 4, 2024; and her sister, Joanne Frenchik.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4 – 7 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville. Prayers of Transfer will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, June 20th at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at SS. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Blairsville with Rev. Joseph Pham, OFM Cap, celebrant.

Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
