Mary Louise (Cortilesso) Shields, 86, of Blairsville (Blacklick Township), PA passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at home with family.
The daughter of Joseph and Edith (Avalli) Cortilesso, she was born on April 16, 1938, in Latrobe, PA.
Mary was a member of SS Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Blairsville. Mary graduated from Blairsville High School, Class of 1956, and she went on to graduate from the Latrobe Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She worked at the Latrobe Hospital Blairsville Family Practice before retiring in 2002.
Mary and John “Jack” Shields, Jr. were married on May 20, 1961, and together they shared 64 years of happiness. She loved her pets and spending time with her family.
Surviving is her husband, John “Jack” Shields, Jr. of Blairsville; son, Patrick L. Shields of Blairsville; and sister, Joanne Mogis (Terry) of Surprise, AZ.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents.
An entombment will take place in SS. Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
