Nancy Jane (Smith) McAfoose, 86, of Indiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at her home.
A daughter of the late Carl L. and Zula (Henry) Smith, she was born June 26, 1938, in Indiana.
Nancy graduated National Honor Society from Indiana High School in 1956. She loved working in the home and giving her all to family and friends. Nancy worked as a bookkeeper for McAfoose Landscaping, a business she and her husband shared. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, but in recent years she called Grace Church her new church family, where she enjoyed many friendships and a strong love of the Lord. As an avid photographer, Nancy was the Indiana County Fair Historian for decades and loved recording all events in pictures and words. She was a member of the Indiana Line Dancers for 35 years. Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening and playing mah-jongg.
She is survived by her children: Todd F. McAfoose and companion, Deborah Nelson; and Christina L. Lucas and husband Russell “Scott”; three grandchildren: Matthew Lucas and companion Anna Kerner, Amanda Ziants and husband Nathan and Sara Potts and husband Kyle; two great-grandchildren, Magnolia Potts and Chelsea Ziants.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Franklin H. McAfoose, who passed in 2015; three siblings: Barbara Hurley, Janet Chronoski and Jackson Smith; stepbrother, Jack Toy; two brothers-in-law, Chester “Alf” Chronoski and Ronald McAfoose; and a sister-in-law, Lucillia Boyer and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, where additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024. Interment will be in Oakland Mausoleum.
