Rev. Charles Filmore Williamson

Rev. Charles Filmore Williamson, 91, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.

The son of Millard F. and Carmellia (Strauble) Williamson, he was born on April 26, 1932, in Sheffield, Warren Co., PA.

He was a graduate of Sheffield High School Class of 1950.  Following high school, he served at Mayburg Free Methodist Circuit, Mayburg.  Pastor Williamson earned a bachelor’s degree of Ministry at Houghton College, Houghton, NY.

Rev. Williamson served in ministry for 75 years, retiring in 2021 from the Independent Traditional Holiness Church in Indiana, PA.  He was a member of Hyde Wesleyan Church, Clearfield, PA.   Previous churches Charles served:  Rushford Free Methodist Church, Houghton, NY, Clearfield Free Methodist Church, Clearfield, Vineland Wesleyan Church, Vineland, NJ, Trainer Wesleyan Church, Trainer, Roselawn Wesleyan Church, Madison, IN, Hillview Wesleyan Church, Lock Haven and the Lynchburg Wesleyan Church, Lynchburg, VA.

Rev. Williamson served the Western Pennsylvania District of the Wesleyan Church as District Superintendent from 1988 to 2004.    He served as President & Professor at Biblical Life Institute, Freeport.

Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Edna Mae (Hampton) Williamson, whom he married on August 31, 1957; five children, Sarah R. Mitchell of DuBois, Rev. Dr. Lois E. Moranville of Bellevue, OH, John C. (Cathy) Williamson of Greensboro, NC, Elisabeth A. Eggers of Indiana, and Judith L. (David) Reisinger of Lucerne Mines, 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, a sister, Lewelyn (Fred) Burns of Bradenton, FL; three nieces, one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Noah C. Williamson in November 1991.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 1 to 3 PM at the Independent Traditional Holiness Church, 5065 Ferguson Road, Indiana, PA 15701.  A funeral service will be held at 3 PM at the church with Rev. Robert J. Croft, officiating and Rev. Randy Perry, assisting.

Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, PA at the convenience of the family.
