Richard A. Shaner

Richard “Rich” Allan Shaner, 69, of Indiana, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at his home.

A son of Keith A. and Novella (Hilty) Shaner, he was born Oct. 19, 1953, in New Kensington.

Rich was a graduate of Kiski High School. His employment history included Specialty Tire, Westinghouse, Ben Franklin Elementary School and the YMCA. He loved the Steelers, old cars and going to car shows, camping, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his significant other, Carol Degnan; children: Jamie Shaner, Stephanie Shaner and fiancé Nathan Pritt; stepchildren: John Degnan and wife Karen and Christopher Degnan; two brothers, Jerry Shaner and Edward Shaner; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, New Kensington.
