Robert John Sylves

Robert John Sylves, 81, of New Florence, PA, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at home.

The son of George R. and Nellie (Kameg) Sylves, he was born on November 1, 1944, in Braddock, PA.

Bob graduated from Scott High School, Class of 1962. He worked for many years in Montgomery Ward, Indiana. He was a member and Past Worshipful Master of the Acacia Lodge # 355 F&AM, Blairsville.

Bob married Linda M. Kalanish on November 6, 1965, and together they shared 60 years of happiness. He loved his farm animals, especially his Zebus. More than anything though, he loved his family.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Linda M. (Kalanish) Sylves; three children, Robert J. Sylves II (Michelle Silvers) of Westminster, MD, Lori Sylves-Muench (Michael) of Boise, ID, and Stephanie Custer (Brian) of Seward; grandchildren, Robert John (Jade), Michael, Mark, Sara, Brian (Summer), and Christopher; great grandchildren, Warren and Heath; and siblings, George Sylves (Xinyang) of Meadville and Kris Visco (Mark) of Murrysville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Hixson; and granddaughter, Breanna Sylves.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1 to 4 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA, where a Masonic service will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
