Shirley Lynn (Hazlett) Thompson, 70, of Blairsville, PA (Derry Twp.) passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe, PA.

The daughter of Norman and Mary Jane (Gemmell) Hazlett, she was born on January 2, 1956, in Indiana, PA.

Shirley was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Blairsville.

Shirley had a special place in her heart for animals. She lovingly bred Toy Poodles, Teacup Chihuahuas, and Shih Tzus, rescued horses, and found great joy in simply spending time on the farm surrounded by the animals she cherished.

Surviving are her three children, Candy L. Huml (Mike) of Knoxville, TN, Kelly Bodnar (Sandra) of Sunbury, NC, and Johnny L. Bodnar (Anna) of Saltsburg; two grandchildren, Michael Huml III (Natalie) and Sam Huml; three siblings, Edward Hazlett of Coal Run, Diana Hazlett of Shelocta, and Mack Hazlett (Patty) of Coal Run; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl W. Thompson, Sr. on January 5, 2025; her parents; sister, Norma Frain; and brother, Robert Hazlett.

Per Shirley’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
