William "Bill" B. Schamberg

William “Bill” Bernard Schamberg, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Friday July 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was the husband of Margaret “Peg” G. (Watson) Schamberg, whom he married on September 15, 1963.

Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, on November 09, 1936, William was the son of the late Bernard and Marjorie (Cooke) Schamberg of Hyde Park, NY. Most recently, Bill was a member of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls, and formerly Faith Bible Church in Chestertown, NY and Mountainside Bible Chapel in Schroon Lake, NY. He was also a dedicated member of Gideons International Ministry for many years and enjoyed sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ with everyone he met.

Bill spent 20 years of his life serving the public as a dedicated New York State Trooper in the Adirondack Mountains. He also served his country 8 years in the Navy reserves. A man of many interests, Bill was an avid radio-controlled airplane enthusiast, a gifted storyteller, and a talented writer. He found great joy in sharing his life stories, preserving memories, and bringing smiles to those around him through his encouraging words and warm sense of humor. Above all, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared a faithful and loving marriage with his beloved wife Peg, and together they built a life and family centered around Christ.

Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Peg Schamberg; three sons, Daniel (Katrin) Schamberg of Voorheesville, New York; David (Kim) Schamberg of Seaford, New York; and Donald (Larena) Schamberg of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; a brother, Richard (Lorraine) Schamberg of Ormond Beach, Florida; a sister-in-law, Kirsten Schamberg of Hyde Park, New York, six cherished grandchildren: Brandon (Reagan) Schamberg, Landon (Paige) Schamberg, Morgan (Cristian) Contreras, Lauren (Silas) Olivet, Noah Schamberg, and Madeline Schamberg; and seven great-grandchildren, Jane, Maggie, Leah, Micah, Eva, Liana, and baby girl (due in September!). Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Schamberg of Hyde Park, NY.

Bill will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for his family, his generous spirit, and his passion for storytelling. His legacy of kindness, devotion, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N. 7th St., Indiana, have been entrusted with the arrangements.
