William A. Koozer, Jr.

September 24, 1947 — September 15, 2023

William (Bill) Ai Koozer, Jr, of Blairsville, died at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA on Friday, September 15, 2023, surrounded by family and cherished friends.

Born September 24, 1947, in DuBois, PA, Bill lived his early life in the state of Oregon and was a 1965 graduate of Clearfield High School. Following graduation, he served as a jet mechanic in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Bill worked as a welder for the Pennsylvania Electric Company for many years before retiring from the Homer City Generating Station in 2010.

After retirement, Bill spent many years in the full-time ministry as a member of the Blairsville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Bill enjoyed sports, particularly Penn State & Steelers football, and spent many good times playing in golf leagues, weightlifting, and cycling. He loved the Myrtle Beach area, especially early morning walks on the beach, and never heard a song he couldn’t dance to.

Bill will be most remembered for his positive attitude, kindness, and sense of humor - particularly his comedic one-liners and booming laughter.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 56 years, Esther (Nunnery), and two children, William (Mary) Koozer III of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Laurie (Jason) Iacono of Robinson Township (PA); five grandchildren, Jessie, William IV, John & Thomas Koozer, Eden Iacono, and step-granddaughter Jordan Iacono. Also surviving are sisters Carolyn Davis of Cary, NC, Rosemary (Bill) Rogers of Palmer, AK, and Debbie (Dennis) Fishburn of Altoona, PA; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Koozer, Sr. and Betty (Shaffner) Koozer of Clearfield, PA and an infant brother, Mark D. Koozer.

The family will receive friends during an open house on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:30 at the Blairsville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (324 Newport Rd., Blairsville, PA) followed by a memorial service at 3:00.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Jehovah’s Witnesses Worldwide Work at donate.jw.org
