William C. Whitfield

William Carl Whitfield, 80, of Blairsville, PA (Burrell Twp.) passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.

The son of Arthur D. and Aleen (Parker) Whitfield, he was born on March 18, 1943, in Indiana, PA.

Mr. Whitfield was a member of Life Center Church of God in Christ, Chicago, Ill.

He worked as a security guard until his retirement.

Mr. Whitfield enjoyed listening to blues music with his family and watching western tv shows and movies.

Surviving are two sons, William Jefferson of Johnstown and Norman Peak of Indiana; two daughters, April Barnes of Raleigh, NC, and Teena Whitfield Mitchell (Dale) of Johnstown; 25 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three sisters, Marlene Adams (Mark Wright) of Blairsville, Marjorie Walker (Wallace) of Philadelphia, and Lynda Wilson (Jeffrey) of Johnstown; three brothers, Arthur Whitfield of Josephine, Charles Whitfield of Indiana, and Russell Whitfield (Mary) of Blairsville; a special aunt, Margaret Parker; four brothers-in-law, Michael Adams, Donald Gosha, Raymond Gosha (Jessica) and Leonard Gosha; a sister-in-law, Harriet James of New York; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, Toni on May 9, 2021, nephew, Michael Whitfield, sister-in-law, Margaret Whitfield, and brother-in-law, Roger Gosha.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 6-8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville. A funeral service will be held at the Second Baptist Church, 241 E. Campbell St., Blairsville on Tuesday, March 18th at 1 PM with Pastor Russell D. Whitfield, Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
